NEW YORK – The trade deadline is about a month away, but the Twins are already adding to their bullpen.

The Twins acquired Korean reliever Woo-Suk Go in a trade with the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations on Sunday.

Go, a 27-year-old righthander, has never pitched in the major leagues. He has an assignment clause in his contract, so he will be activated onto the Twins’ 26-man roster before Tuesday’s series opener against Cleveland at Target Field.

He had a 1.96 ERA in 27 minor league games for Detroit, mostly at Class AAA, while totaling 54 strikeouts and 13 walks in 41⅓ innings.

Go pitched in Korea’s top professional league from 2017-23, and he pitched 3⅔ innings for the country in this year’s World Baseball Classic.

Go initially signed a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the San Diego Padres. He was traded to the Marlins as part of the Luis Arraez deal, then joined the Tigers’ organization after he was designated for assignment in 2025.

He pitched three scoreless innings against the Twins’ Class AAA affiliate, the St. Paul Saints, in June, giving up one hit while striking out two.
