The Major League Baseball Trade Deadline is 5 p.m. (CT) today. The Twins have already acquired reliever A.J. Minter (LH), and starter Dean Kremer (RH). But that’s simply not enough!

In my July 28 Bench Barks, I came up with a list of players for the Twins to at least consider and make an offer for. At the noon hour on Monday, several of those could still be in play. Would love to see a blockbuster deal, but I think that’s highly unlikely.

A couple of names (non pitchers) I saw mentioned today were Tyrone Taylor, New York Mets (OF), Willi Castro, Colorado Rockies (INF/OF), Taylor Ward, Baltimore Orioles (OF), and Mickey Moniak, Colorado Rockies (OF).

Castro is a former Twins player, currently playing the majority of time at second base for the Rockies. Castro, 29, is a switch-hitter whose hit 12 home runs, drove in 46 runs, hit at a clip of .263 average, stole seven bases, .335 OBP, and .750 OPS. Bringing Castro (#50 Twins jersey) off moth balls would certainly be a exciting moment.

Taylor, 32, hits from the right side of the plate and has had 145 at-bats this season, hitting .241, with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs. An alarming number is an .290 OBP. However, he does have a .793 OPS. (Acquired by Cubs this afternoon)

Ward, 32 was traded by the Orioles this morning to Seattle.

Moniak, 28, is a former No. 1 draft pick (1st pick overall) of the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016. Moniak has moved all over the Rockies outfield this season. Moniak has had 256, hitting 17 home runs and driving in 47 runs from thee sweet-swinging lefty. He owns a .274 average, .317 OBP, and .864 OPS.

Some intriguing pitching arms also still out there are all right-handed relievers: Riley O’Brien (St. Louis), Kirby Yates (Angels – Acquired by Pirates this afternoon), Kenly Jansen (Detroit), and Antonio Senzatela (Colorado – acquired by Brewers this afternoon).
