The Rush Radio Show, powered by Willis Automotive, with Travis Justice and Ross Peterson, Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will start the college football season with a big target on their back. Ohio State is the preseason #1 team in the Associated Press CFB Poll. The Buckeyes are also ranked #1 in the preseason coaches’ poll. Ohio State starts the season in the Associated Press Top 10 for the 14th consecutive season, but only the second time as number one. The last time the Buckeyes started on top, 2015. The last preseason number one team to win a National Title was Alabama in 2017. So this is evidence that starting number one doesn’t mean you will finish there. Iowa, after finishing 9-4 a year ago, starts at #22. In total, there are 8 Big 10 teams in the top 25 and four teams from the Big 12.
