Covino & Rich: Tyreek Hill Back on the Chiefs Would Be a NIGHTMARE for the NFL | Oct. 5

Tyreek Hill watched the Chiefs beat Danny G’s Raiders and posted a one-letter “hm” within minutes. Tyquan Thornton is out 12 to 16 weeks with a dislocated ankle and Drew Rosenhaus is talking to teams starting today, so Covino isn’t hedging: the Chiefs are back. Kenneth Walker just ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and now they might add Tyreek.
It’s Monday, so we go around the room with Things That Make You Go Hmm. Rich takes a well-earned victory lap on Deebo Samuel fitting right back in with Kyle Shanahan. Dan Beyer has Brock Purdy as his MVP and walks through a stat no quarterback in NFL history has matched.
Later we sort through the 0-4 teams, and DB makes the case that Houston has a defense problem and not a C.J. Stroud problem. Rich’s six-year-old asks the best question of the weekend about the Jaguars’ final play. Jeremiah Smith is still uncoverable at Ohio State.
On the baseball side, a Brewers coach called the roof ball during the ground rules meeting before Game 1, and then it happened. Dan Beyer picks up his 53rd Last One Standing win, and we preview Yankees vs Rays Game 2 with Cam Schlittler on the mound.
Before any of that, Covino forgot his gym clothes and needs a ruling on whether jeans on the bench press is acceptable.
